God our Father - Centre for needy children
A journey,
a meeting,
a concrete project
For many years, we have collaborating with the “God our Father – Centre for needy children” orphanage in Timboni, near Malindi (Kenya).
LAUMAS has financed specific projects for the orphanage in Timboni, which are aimed at promoting the development of the activieties of the centre and to ensure that many girls and boys who stay at the centre enjoy the fundamental natural rights such as care, food, health and education.

2012
The first meeting
The meeting with the orphanage takes place during a private trip: Mama Sussy, the director, the young volunteers and many of the girls and boys staying at the institute have big projects, and LAUMAS is grateful that it can contribute to their success.

2013
The first project: water tanks
Design and construction of three large stone cisterns for collecting rainwater. The tanks, located below ground level,collected water during the rainy season. Subsequently, this precious resource was treated so it could be used all year round for a variety of purposes (irrigation, sanitation, use in cooking, etc.).

2014
Learning a trade: the wood-fired oven
Construction of a large wood-fired oven for baking bread, biscuits, pizzas, focaccia bread and pastries intended both for internal consumption by the children and for sale on the local market. The project, in addition to being a source of income for the orphanage, allows the children themselves to work together and learn the trade of baker.

Learning a trade: the farm
Launch of the project to develop the orphanage’s farm: purchase of fields near the river, seeds, horticultural crops, and appropriate irrigation systems.

2017
The project expands: livestock
Various animal species are purchased, animal shelters are built and livestock farming equipment is purchased. The goal is to generate new food resources and develop an additional source of income. The older residents participate in the farm’s activities and sell the surplus at the local market, developing greater independence.

The girls’ dormitory
The girls’ wing of the orphanage, which had been damaged by a fire, is rebuilt.

New agricultural support
New contributions to support the cultivation of crops and animal breeding activities.

Going to school: the minibus
Purchase of a new minibus to take the children and teens to school.

Renovation
Renovating and painting the facility: doors, windows, and interiors.

The farm expands
Extending the farm for rearing livestock.

Purchaising new equipment and machinery for the farm work.
